The Global Association of Applied Behavioural Scientists

Editorial Submissions

Thank you for your interest in contributing to GAABS.

Our goal is to showcase accessible, applied insights from the field of behavioural science — helping practitioners, organisations, and the public understand how behavioural science improves real-world outcomes.

1. What We’re Looking For

We publish short, engaging articles (typically 500–800 words) that:

  • Apply behavioural science to real-world contexts, not just theory

  • Address a clear behavioural issue or question

  • Explain how an intervention was designed, tested, or evaluated

  • Show measurable or observable impact

  • Reflect ethical standards

2. Our Audience

Our readers include behavioural practitioners and professionals curious about applying behavioural insights. Write as if you’re helping them use what you know.

Tips for strong submissions:

  • Use plain language. Avoid jargon or define it briefly (e.g. “System 1 thinking – fast, intuitive decision-making”).

  • Hook the reader early. Start with a relatable example or a striking insight.

  • Be action-oriented. Make it clear what action you think the readers should take.

  • Be specific. Use real-world cases, examples, or data.

  • Stay concise. Focus on one key idea per article.

Think: Harvard Business Review, not an academic journal.

3. Style and Format

  • Length: 500–800 words

  • File type: Word or Google Doc (tracked changes enabled)

  • Tone: Clear, professional, accessible (general audience, not academic)

  • References: Use hyperlinks, not footnotes

  • Images: Optional — suggest up to three visuals or photos to bring your piece to life

  • Bio: Include your name, role, organisation, and LinkedIn profile

4. Review and Publication Process

  • Each article is reviewed by one or more members of our volunteer Editorial Board.

  • Authors may receive suggested edits or revision requests.

  • Final approval rests with the GAABS Editorial Managing Board.

  • We aim to provide a response or update within 90 days of submission.

  • If accepted, a GAABS editor will contact you to finalise edits before publication.

  • Publication timing depend on submission volume and Board capacity.

How to Submit

Email your 1. Article and completed 2. Submission Form to editorial@gaabs.org.

If you don’t have the submission form, you can download it [here] or request it via email.

At this time, GAABS members may submit one article for review and publication each calendar year. Currently, submissions are open to GAABS members and invited contributors.

Study Stories — a blog series

Study Stories is our blog series where GAABS members tell us about their dissertation or research project in plain English — punchy, personal, and aimed at curious people who don't have a behavioural science degree (yet).

Whether you're a recent graduate, an executive masters alumnus, or a career academic or consultant, if you've done the research, we'd love to hear your story.

What a #StudyStory Reads Like:

Around 500–700 words , conversational tone — write like a human, not a textbook, minimal jargon — your mum should be able to read it and find it fascinating,  your honest take on what you did, what you found, and why it matters.
